22/04/2025 – Stand by…
For those eagerly awaiting the return of our repeater; the anticipated new site at Coity common where we’d anticipated to host the repeater has recently changed hands and we’re currently negotiating with the new owners for access. Should this not be successful, an alternative site in Bettws has been identified and confirmed as a viable fallback.
For those members of the repeater group who have donated or joined recently, we truly appreciate your continued support and we will have the repeater up and running as soon as we are able. The equipment is built, the antenna ready; we just need to gain access to the new site to get it installed and on-air. Please check back regularly or follow the GB3TC Repeater Group Facebook page for the latest news and updates.
09/04/2025 – Bear with us
Sorry. The move is taking a little longer than planned due to some unforeseen complications at the new site. Apologies to everyone affected, but we’ll be back up and running as soon as possible, and repeater coverage will be greatly improved.
The primary reason for moving the repeater is due to the limited range available from the Aberkenfig & District Amateur Radio Club site at Tondu Railway Club. Our aim for the repeater is to provide a repeater service to amateur radio users in and around the Bridgend area and extend the range available to mobile users and users restricted by power and location. Our testing period concluded successfully and a more permanent site identified that would extend repeater coverage into the Vale of Glamorgan, North Somerset, along the M4 corridor and beyond.
We formed the repeater group to manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of the repeater and we remain committed to providing a long term repeater service to amateur radio users in and around Bridgend, something which has been sorely missed for too long. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve the unforeseen issues at the new site.
Thank you for your understanding.
07/03/2025 – GB3TC is moving
We’ve recently identified a promising new commercial site for the GB3TC amateur radio repeater, offering significantly improved coverage compared to its current location. However, securing this site comes with considerable costs for our group.
To support this important project, which will enhance communication across Bridgend, Maesteg, Cardiff, a major stretch of the local M4 corridor, as well as areas in Devon and Somerset, we have established the GB3TC Repeater Group Fund. We greatly appreciate any donations to help make this upgrade possible.
If you’d like to contribute, please visit our donations page.
Your support will make a real difference to the local radio community!
